	Integrated Combat Systems came about as a result of us putting a system together so that we could understand and use all the information we receive throughout our training from all our different instructors. This allowed us to see commonalities between all the systems. A common mistake when learning from multiple systems is to look towards the differences. In reality it makes more sense to look at how systems are similar to one another. Integrated Combat Systems is our understanding and research which aims to train, develop and pass on our multi-system, multi-cultural combat system.


	We incorporate as many useful training methods as we can. Each system we come across has developed training methods in order to allow it’s practitioners to develop and improve. For example the Muay Thai boxers use the Thai pads to develop the kicking speed and power. BJJ uses the incredibly valuable tool of contesting when they ‘roll’, and Jun Fan Gung Fu took the focus pads of boxing and used them to train not only their punching skills but their trapping. Contesting our martial arts skills is one of the most important training methods we develop over time. Without ‘seeing if it works’ for yourself, you are basically taking your instructors word for it. Techniques have to fit your body and that requires ‘tweaking’ – contesting allows you to do all of these things.


	Throughout the year we train with different world class instructors in all the different systems we are learning. We try to get the highest level instruction we can and this in turn helps us develop. 	Cross training is a great way to maximise your training time but is often misunderstood and not trained correctly. Cross training is NOT training in a predominant hand system, ground system, weapons system and kicking system. Instead, it is training across multiple systems looking for the common ground and maximising your efforts. Why not come along and train to find out more?
